Cholpon Ata

The city ofCholpon Atais located on the coastLake Issyk-Kul, in the central part of its northern coast. Approximately 265 kilometers separate it from the capitalBishkek. The settlement is known as a popular resort with excellent sandy beaches. The name of the city in translation sounds like "Father of the Stars". According to one of the popular versions, it is believed that the city got its name due to the brilliant water surface of the lake, in which millions of bright stars are reflected at night.
